Why I Don’t Share the Gospel

I talk about God, and church, and the Bible. I tell my coworkers about Bible studies, and worship band practices, and prayer meetings. They know my opinion on politics, euthanasia, abortion, birth control, legalized marijuana, life after death, and the spirit realm.

But for all my talk no one has come to salvation. Why do I see no fruit from my labors?

Maybe because Jesus didn’t tell us to go and talk about church and bible studies and “our opinion” on life after death. Actually, He didn’t even tell us to preach about a God we believe exists. He told us to preach the gospel.

Ezer Part 2 – Inspiring Guys Above Mediocrity

Deborah, an Israelite woman and wife, knew what it meant to reflect the character of God as a helper. And it wasn’t by cooking and cleaning for her husband (though I’m sure she did that as well).

Deborah was a prophetess, which means God spoke to her and gave her messages to pass on to His people. During this time, Jabin, king of the Canaanites, oppressed Israel because of their sin. Until one day God gave Deborah a message for a man named Barak.

Ezer Part 1 – Reflecting the Character of God as a Helper

After God made men and women, He looked at His creation and declared that it was “very good.” But how many times have we read this and immediately disagreed? “God’s idea to make woman as a helper might have been very good for Adam, but it doesn’t sound very good to me.” I’ve come to realize that we don’t actually hate God’s job description for a Christian woman, we hate the “christian” job description of a women. Never once, did God define women as inferior, weak, or unintelligent. We, Christian women, did.

What it means to be a Christian

Perpetua held her wounded friend in her arms, a perfect picture of bravery and joy even in the centre of chaos and blood. The crowd cheered as the two girls stared death in the eye.

Perpetua came from a wealthy family. Growing up with her brothers in Rome during the height of it’s glory, her future seemed bright and certain. But when she heard the gospel she eagerly gave it all up to follow Christ.

Even though it was a crime to preach the gospel in Rome, Perpetua boldly confessed Christ, knowing it would mean certain imprisonment and possibly death.

Becoming A Different Kind of Woman

We all know that a Christian should be different from a non-christian. However, often it’s really hard to see a difference. Take a woman from the church and a woman from the world, stand them side by side on a Monday afternoon and they’ll look and act relatively the same.

But every once in a while you come across a lady who is obviously, radically different than the average woman. Jesus Christ shines through her character and pours from her speech.

What is it that makes this girl different while so many others continue to look like the world?

Elisabeth Elliot says it starts by accepting God’s idea of who we are.

Escaping the Pressure to Know What You’ll do After Grad

Remember when people used to ask what you wanted to be when you grew up? I was determined to become a baker. My bakery would sell brownies (because they’re my grandpa’s favorite), and my Dad would drive the delivery truck.

As I grew up, the brownie bakery and delivery service dream quickly died. But the question “What do you want to be” didn’t. In fact it was fired in my direction more frequently each passing year.

Now that this query was relevant and pressing I couldn’t find an answer. What did I want to do with my life? I could no longer answer with all the confidence of 6-year old me. Sometimes I even avoided talking to adults because the dreaded question would inevitably get asked.

I’ve heard from a lot of girls going into high school or graduation that are experiencing a similar pressure to get your lives figured out. Everyone is asking what you want to do and you just don’t know. How are you supposed to wisely choose high school courses and college courses, when your future is uncertain?

4 Ways to Keep Reading the Bible When You’re Discouraged

According to a recent survey, Millennials (those of us born between 1984 and 2002) have experienced a greater decline in Bible reading over the last several years than other people groups. We read the Bible less today than we did a few years ago. At the same time, over fifty percent of Millennials say they aren’t content with the time they spend reading the Bible. They want to invest more energy pouring over the scripture than they currently do. With so many of us wanting to increase out time in the Word but experiencing the opposite, it’s easy to feel discouraged. For the 55% of us who have a desire to invest more time in God’s word here are four practical ways to keep reading even when you feel like you’re failing.

4 Ways to Simply Enjoy God

A year ago I found myself completely worn out trying to resolve conflicting desires.

I desperately wanted to love the Lord with all my heart, to gladly serve Him without distraction. But truth be told, my heart was divided and my mind distracted.

Other desires took priority in my time and affection, and try as I might, it felt impossible to rearrange things into their proper order. My desires seemed out of control; anxiety threatened my joy and my emotions wouldn’t be ignored.

That’s when I stumbled across an article that set me free to simply enjoy God.

Why I Don’t Pray for My Future Husband

I have a confession to make; I don’t pray for my future husband.

Yes I’ve read all the articles and listened to all the testimonies about the benefits and blessings of praying for this special person. If you’re a christian girl I’m guessing you’ve hear them too.

And sometime during my early teens I did pray on and off for my future husband. But over the years I began to question this practice.

“How can I pray boldly when I don’t know what God wants to do with my future?”

“If it’s possible I’ll be single my whole life, should I still pray?”
